Eco Efficient Driving

How to Save Money and Wear and Tear on Your Car

ECO-EFFICIENT DRIVING

  1. Cut your fuel bill by at least 15%.
  2. Reduce your driving stress.
  3. Save wear and tear on tyres, brakes and engine.
  4. Reduce your Carbon footprint
  5. No need for expensive addons

The single most important aim of eco efficient driving is the need to reduce fuel consumption by 15% (that is one gallon in every six).

Efficient driving means making the most economic use of your driving and thinking skills to reduce costs and avoid incurring unnecessary motoring expenses.

The simplest way to cut the costs of motoring lies in your right foot.  Easing off the accelerator early enough can reduce fuel costs by 10-15%.  This is the equivalent of not having to pay any fuel bills for two months in every year.  Gentler use of the accelerator is complemented by less harsh use of the brake pedal as well.

Gentle use of both accelerator and brake can be guaranteed by better use of forward observation.  The real skill of economic driving is to concentrate totally on the driving experience.  Planned driving is efficient and effective.  Planned driving saves fuel, tyre costs, body damage, and reduces wear and tear to an acceptable minimum.

Most new cars are fitted with catalytic converters to reduce production by 90% carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons.  However ‘cats’ are not always a blessing.  Extra care is needed when driving to ensure that no damage is caused to the cat.   Damage is caused by driving only short journeys; this does not give enough time to warm the engine up.  Engines fitted with cats must not be push-started, or jump-started; anything which allows unburned fuel to go through catalytic converters can destroy them. With that goes your efficiency.
